Airports in Sicily

If you're already in Italy, you can easily continue to Sicily by train. There are several ferries from Genoa and Naples. But for most travelers it is obviously easier to fly into Palermo (PMO), Catania (CTA), Trapani (TPS) or Comiso (CIY).
Yes, you read that right: there are no less than four international airports in Sicily:

Catania - "Fontanarossa"

(Italian: Aeroporto di Catania - Fontanarossa - Vincenzo Bellini)
Catania's airport is 7 km outside the city of Catania and is the largest airport in Sicily and the 6th airport of Italy. It is named after the famous Catanese composer of operas Vincenzo Bellini.

This airport is located on the east coast of Sicily and operates the well-known cities such as Taormina, Messina, Siracusa, Ragusa, Enna. Landing at Catania is an experience in itself. If you have found a seat on the left side of the plane you'll have a great view of the volcano Etna.

Palermo - "Falcone-Borsellino"

Palermo airport is 28 kilometers from the city and serves the west with cities like Cefalù, Caltanissetta, Trapani, Marsala, Agrigento.

The airport was named Falcone-Borsellino to commemorate the two leading anti-mafia judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, who were murdered by the Mafia in 1992. A 1.90-meter diameter plaque with their portraits can be found to the right of one of the main external entrances to the departure hall.
It is placed in a mosaic of Sicily, made by the Sicilian sculptor Tommaso Geraci. It bears the inscription "Giovanni Paolo Falcone-Borsellino-Gli Altri-L'orgoglio della Nuova Sicilia (Giovanni Falcone-Borsellino Paolo-The others-The pride of the New Sicily).
